Job Description
Role: Youth Project Team Manager
Location: King Alfred Leisure Centre, Brighton and Hove
Report to: Managing Director/Founder
Key Responsibilities
Overall Management: Lead and manage the smooth running of all daily clubs, ensuring the well-being and safety of children and staff. Fulfill statutory responsibilities related to SEND and neurodiversity needs.
Staff Supervision: Supervise, manage, develop, and train team members to deliver services efficiently. Onboard new children and maintain positive relationships with their families.
Customer Service: Work with the Managing Director to ensure excellent customer service and the success of My HELM CIC programs.
Workshop Coordination: Coordinate and manage the workshop programs, ensuring they are successfully integrated with overall activities.
Welfare and Child Protection: Share welfare and child protection duties with the Managing Director.
Workshop Delivery: Run and deliver workshops for children aged 8-11 and 11-16.
Specific Responsibilities
Administrative Duties:
Ensure compliance with National Youth Agency guidelines.
Maintain inventory and oversee equipment and premises.
Monitor staff working hours and manage records of overtime/absence.
Coordinate the implementation and success of workshops and termly programs.
Liaise with group leaders and manage communication with staff.
Conduct morning assemblies and meetings with staff and group leaders.
Conduct end-of-term appraisals and provide detailed reports.
Academic Duties:
Deliver and support workshops throughout the term program.
Ensure workshops are delivered according to guidelines.
Train and supervise staff in workshop delivery and placement testing.
Coordinate day-to-day timetabling and staff assignments.
Observe and provide feedback to workshop leaders.
Welfare Duties:
Implement strategies to improve children's outcomes and collaborate with professionals to provide exceptional experiences.
Support apprentices and design stimulating educational activities.
Foster a positive atmosphere and ensure staff are motivated and supported.
Maintain open communication and ensure compliance with My HELM CIC policies.
Pre-course Duties:
Participate in preparation weeks and induction.
Assist with course setup and complete required training courses.
General Accountabilities:
Ensure compliance with Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities, and Child Protection policies.
Comply with Data Protection Act requirements.
Carry out other duties as required within the scope of the role.
Person Specification
Essential:
Youth work management experience.
Degree or equivalent.
Eligibility to work in the UK.
Up-to-date knowledge of National Youth Agency guidelines and Safeguarding.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft and Google programs.
Genuine interest in working with young learners.
Availability for evenings and Saturdays if required.
Desirable:
Experience working with young learners or in a youth club.
Experience in materials development.
Valid, enhanced DBS certificate for child workforce.
Basic first-aid training.
Experience working within SEND or SENCO roles.

Job Type and Schedule
Type: Temporary Contract (Fixed term with potential for permanent role)
Salary: £650-£750 per week (term), £400 for preparation weeks
Schedule: Monday to Friday, after school clubs, occasional weekends
Location: In person, onsite at King Alfred Leisure Centre
