The Direct Payments Recipient (The Direct Payments Recipient is the employer and they hold all the employer’s responsibilities associated with this role. Pembrokeshire County Council supports them to fulfil their employer obligations).
Introduction:
Do you have experience working with non-verbal young people? Are you able to commit to creating a routine of support for this young person, as routine is very important to him? A 21-year-old male is looking for support to undertake hobbies and interests of his choice. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme, which aims to enable clients to manage their support and independently meet their care needs.
The main duties to be included in this role are:
• Support with undertaking activities that he enjoys such as Swimming, Bike mobility, a cinema trip or a cuppa at a local café etc.
• Supporting with aspects of personal care as required, for example, toileting.
• Supporting the young man with identifying other activities that could be undertaken
• Supporting the young man to develop independent living skills
• To provide a routine of support for this young man, to enable him to feel calm, relaxed and comfortable.
• Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours, and ensuring that any activities are undertaken safely, with the young man’s safety in mind.
• Encourage the young man to take ownership of some of his decisions around activities, and making choices for himself.
• To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours
• Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback on any concerns to the relevant authority
• Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance
The client is looking for a personal assistant that fits the following person specification:
• Caring and patient
• Responsible and honest
• Proactive and self-motivated
• Has good local knowledge
• Good time-keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties
• Good communicator
• Able to develop a supportive and consistent relationship
Other Requirements:
A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required.
You must have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
Benefits:
5.6 weeks holiday per year (pro rata)
Sick pay at SSP rate
Training is provided if required.
