Job Description: Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of learners with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? A local college in the Cambridge area is seeking an instructor – Supported Learning to provide maternity cover, supporting students across a range of vocational options. As an instructor – Supported Learning, you will provide training and assessment in a variety of work environments, supporting learners in developing key skills. You will monitor progress, set targets, and maintain assessment records to ensure learners achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Teach, supervise, and assess learners across various SEND programmes.
2. Organise and conduct assessments in line with awarding body requirements.
3. Monitor learner progress, set action plans, and maintain assessment records.
4. Prepare and maintain resources for learning activities.
5. Assist in recruitment, open days, and college events.
6. Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance learning experiences.
7. Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health & safety, and equality policies.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
1. Qualified to at least Level 2 in English and Maths (or able to pass the college’s assessment).
2. Relevant vocational experience, particularly in hospitality, catering, or life skills.
3. Extensive experience working with learners with learning disabilities.
4. Experience delivering training and assessment at entry-level to Level 1.
5. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
Desirable:
1. A teaching qualification or assessor award.
2. Experience working in a catering/hospitality environment with a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
3. Knowledge of vocational qualifications and progression routes for SEND learners.
4. Experience delivering practical sessions in areas such as art, wood skills, or sport and leisure.
