An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time experienced and highly motivated qualified Dental Nurse Team Manager, with excellent clinical, managerial, and administrative skills to join our dynamic Community Dental team covering our Swindon sites.
The successful candidate should be a qualified registered Dental Nurse and will possess excellent managerial, communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
The post holder will maintain their clinical skills so they can be part of the Dental Clinics Teams, supporting urgent and special care clinics across Wiltshire and Swindon.
The Community Dental Service in Wiltshire and Swindon offers urgent care clinics for patients experiencing dental pain, special care clinics for adults and children with additional needs who cannot access their treatment at a general dentist across four sites. The service also provides hospital sessions in Salisbury, Swindon, and Bath.
You must be a car driver, with access to a vehicle to carry out the role. You may also be required to work at other Dental Clinics. This role includes weekend and bank holiday working on a rota basis. The post holder will be required to work 08:30 – 17:00, with one hour for lunch, three days per week.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work closely with the other dental nurse team managers across Wiltshire and Swindon, as well as the dental management team, to support the safe and efficient running of the Community Dental Service.
You will work closely with the Clinical Director and Assistant Clinical Director, in this mainly managerial role, to offer your knowledge and skills on Policy Working Groups, Governance and Management Meetings, as well as working with Trust Wide Teams relating to Infection Prevention Control and Health and Safety.
The post holder will have a range of clinical, managerial, and administrative duties within the Community Dental Service that contributes to maintaining a high level of service provision. Direct line management of Dental Nurses, overseeing the organization of staffing for day-to-day clinical sessions, Urgent Care, Out of Hours, Special Care, local hospital rotas in the acute setting, and sedation. Responsible for recruitment, overseeing and conducting risk assessments, and various audits including infection control, health & safety, fire, and security.

Qualifications
* Registration as Dental Nurse with General Dental Council for Dental Care Professionals
* The National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN) Dental Nurse Qualification (or exceptionally similar qualification plus appropriate experience)
* Comprehensive, specialised knowledge in any of the following additional qualifications, or working towards the following: NEBDN Oral Health Education, NEBDN Radiography Dental Nurse, NEBDN Sedation Dental Nurse, or NEBDN Special Care Dental Nurse
* Understanding of NHS Commissioning
* Completion of appropriate management and leadership programme
Experience
* Significant experience of working as a dental nurse. Experience of stock control and requisitions. Wide range of experience in Dental procedures. Working and supporting the team. Experience of Health and Safety practice relevant to this post.
* Experience in change management, team leadership, performance management. Experience working as a dental nurse in a Community Dental Service.
Knowledge
* Understanding of infection control procedures. Understanding of personal health and safety responsibilities. Understanding of equality and diversity within the workforce and how it can impact on this post. Knowledge of CQC framework and Key Lines of Enquiry. Excellent organisation skills. Evidence of team working skills and proven ability to work under own initiative and under direction of the Clinical Director and Assistant Clinical Director. Ability to multitask with both the clinical and management environment. Empathy for different client groups. Ability to motivate staff and plan own workload using personal initiative. Able to work to a high standard, under pressure and keep concentration to a high level for long periods of time. A wide knowledge of dental materials and the handling, mixing, and storing of them. A good standard of written and spoken English is required to be able to undertake the relevant duties. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
