Job Title: Credit Controller Location: Middlesbrough Salary: £24k (DOE) Type: Full-Time, Permanent, Office-Based Working Hours: 8.30am – 5pm (Mon – Fri) An established leader in cable supply across the UK and Ireland is seeking a Credit Controller to join its expanding Credit Control Team in Middlesbrough. This role focuses on managing the day-to-day receivables for a portfolio of customers, ensuring timely payments in accordance with agreed terms. Key Responsibilities of a Credit Controller: Contact customers with overdue payments to secure immediate payment or valid reasons for non-payment. Monitor and follow up on promises of payment to ensure receipt. Record all customer interactions, disputes, and resolutions clearly and promptly. Prepare and issue 7-Day letters, escalating non-responsive customers as needed. Resolve payment issues where remittance advices are not provided. Liaise with relevant parties to manage complex customer billing requirements. Proactively reach out to customers before payment due dates to ensure all necessary documentation is in place. Contribute to team performance by identifying issues and suggesting improvements. Meet individual, team, and departmental KPIs and targets. Maintain accurate records and ensure transactional integrity of sales ledger accounts. Promptly identify and escalate credit risk issues and unresolved queries affecting payments. Key Skills & Attributes of a Credit Controller: Minimum of 1 year of experience in credit control is required. Strong team player with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Highly organized with excellent prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional customer service and negotiation skills. Persuasive communicator, capable of influencing decisions at all levels. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and CRM systems.
