Are you a recent Criminology Graduate? Are you passionate about working with vulnerable children who have been exposed to trauma and adverse childhood experiences?
We are looking for a Criminology Graduate to work as a Mental Health Support Assistant at a small mental health provision in Swindon. All the students in the school have mental health needs, including anxiety, attachment needs, post-traumatic stress, depression, and anger. The school has a deep focus on addressing the social, emotional, and therapeutic needs of the students, ensuring every individual feels happy and safe in school. If you are patient, friendly, and proactive, please apply!
As a Mental Health Support Assistant, your day-to-day responsibilities will involve working with a range of students on a one-to-one basis, as well as in wider groups. You will help prepare learning materials for the students, check on their welfare, and help increase their independent living skills. You will be working alongside Teachers and Specialist Staff to support the students socially and emotionally. By building strong, robust relationships, you will increase the engagement, attainment, and life chances of the children, aiming to ensure they do not enter the criminal justice system.
By working in a specialist mental health school, this role will give you the essential experience needed to train as an Educational Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Behaviour Therapist, or Speech and Language Therapist in the near future. Not only will you gain first-hand insight into mental health and neurodiversity, but you will also learn to identify the risks and needs of each child and ensure they meet the milestones set for them. This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent Graduate or someone with previous experience working with children.
This role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30 am until 3:30 pm each day. The school is ideally looking for a Criminology Graduate who can start ASAP, so please apply now!
