An exciting new position is available for a motivated, enthusiastic, and reliable individual to join the Sleep and Respiratory Physiology team in the role of Clinical Paediatric Sleep Physiologist at the Children's Sleep and Respiratory Service (Royal London Children's Hospital).
The service has seen rapid growth and uses innovative approaches and equipment to maintain excellent patient experience for our paediatric population. Our service engages in both clinical and research activity as we have close links with Queen Mary University of London. We provide secondary and tertiary paediatric respiratory services to the Hospitals of Barts Health NHS Trust.
We are part of the paediatric respiratory service which employs a multidisciplinary approach in the treatment of childhood respiratory disorders. We are a rapidly expanding team that encourages career growth and progression. We provide diagnostics and therapies for respiratory and non-respiratory sleep disorders via cardiorespiratory and polysomnography sleep studies, MSLTs, actigraphy, oximetry, Physiologist/NIV led clinics, and Sleep consultations.
The post holder should have excellent communication skills to work as part of a larger multi-disciplinary team (doctors, CNS, ward nurses, dieticians, physiotherapists, psychologists, and scientists).
Main duties of the job
This role provides a secure opportunity to employ and develop a solid understanding of Sleep physiology whilst learning the necessary skills required to become a key and valued member of the team. A willingness to learn and progress through our service will prove critical to any successful applicant.
The band 6 post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team towards the diagnosis and treatment of paediatric respiratory and sleep disorders and contribute to and maintain excellent standards of patient care and clinical practice.

Essential
* Degree in Clinical Physiology or equivalent science-related subject
* A-STEP or equivalent
* RPSGT

* ARTP Qualification
* Registered on RCCP voluntary register or working towards registration
Experience
Essential
* Post qualification experience as a Band 5 Sleep Physiologist
* Significant experience of clinical contact with patients and/or the public
* Experience with paediatric patients and/or children
* Relevant experience in teaching and mentoring junior/student healthcare scientists and other healthcare professionals the principles and practicalities of basic and some advance sleep medicine assessments
* Previous experience of sleep investigations and interventions such as CPAP/BiPAP, NIV initiation and titration
Desirable
* Experience of performing physiological measurements on Paediatric patients
* Experience of delivering education or instruction to individuals and/or groups
Knowledge
Essential
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications such as Word and Excel
* Good basic knowledge of sleep/respiratory disorders, interventions, and physiological procedures
