URGENT onboarding
Agency seeking Locum Senior OT for their books for a temporary 30 day placement starting 25 November 2024.
Key Responsibilities
1. Effectively manage and prioritise occupational therapy referrals and caseload.
2. Effective delivery of occupational therapy intervention.
3. Work in partnership with outside agencies.
4. Work with the Team Manager to develop and improve the occupational therapy service.
Experience
* Two Years Post Registration Experience of working as an Occupational Therapist in either SSD or Health.
* Multiagency partnership working.
* Experience of working with children and young people within Health and/or SSD.
* Experience of managing a budget.
* Experience of supervising students.
* Experience of working in the community and within service users' own home.
* Experience of working with more complex cases.
* Experience of identifying individual outcomes to inform practice.
Key Functions
1. To provide detailed assessments for children and young people with a disability and their carers.
2. To deliver a quality service in a variety of settings, including children and young people's homes, educational settings, and respite placements as appropriate.
3. Liaise with colleagues in completing comprehensive assessments and care management of children with a disability within the team and other agencies as appropriate.
4. Carry out manual handling risk assessments in accordance with manual handling operations regulations (1992) and the Health and Safety Work Act (1974), in order to promote safer handling environments.
5. Advise and make appropriate recommendations on the provision of specialist equipment and minor and major adaptations.
6. Liaise with the Team Manager to ensure the effective management of the day-to-day equipment budget.
7. To consider and provide the least restrictive intervention which reduces the impact of disability and promotes independence.
8. To maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
9. Ensure service delivery is child-centred and whenever possible considers the wishes and feelings of the child and young person.
10. Attend and contribute to planning and review meetings for children and young people in need of Care and Support, Children Looked After and children on the Child Protection register.
11. Ensure services are delivered within the principles and practices of the Equal Opportunities and the Social Services and Wellbeing Act (2014).
12. Liaise with colleagues in other organisations (such as Health Trust, Voluntary or Private Organisations), to share skills, knowledge, and practice, for the benefit of service users.
13. Develop pathways and further improve integrated practices, with colleagues in other settings.
14. Contribute to the ongoing review of service development within the team.
15. Identify unmet needs and bring this to the attention of managers to inform the planning process.
16. All work undertaken to comply with the British Association of Occupational Therapists Standards and Code of Ethics.
17. Participate in regular individual and Team group supervision.
18. Demonstrate commitment to ongoing personal development.
19. Attend training as required.
20. Attend departmental meetings when required.
