Overview Of The Department/Section
The Aviation Research team (AR) sits with the Global Aviation Finance Office (GAFO), and is part of the Global Corporate and Investment Banking Division (GCIB) for EMEA. GAFO is managed by a Global Head and was a newly introduced organisation connecting aviation finance teams in EMEA, Asia and US to run the aviation finance business seamlessly and consistently on a global basis.
GAFO has senior level support and access, and is MUFG’s first sector vertical team with oversight of all aspects of the aviation business within the Bank.
As an expanding business, GAFO is still developing some aspects and the successful applicant will have the chance to grow with the role helping shape the future of the team and its goals.
Whilst this team is located in the UK, it is important to note that GAFO is a Global Business and as such the team provides support to EMEA, APAC and the US and will attend global client discussions in order to support the GAFO business.
Key Responsibilities
* Learning all aspects of GAFO Aviation Research with a particular focus on the assets (aircraft and engines), their markets (airline - regional, full-service, charter – investor/lessor, OEM and part-out) and their values (market, base, soft and part-out).
* Supporting GAFO AR with the provision of services across the business: presentations, reports, research output and consulting activities (internal and external) by creating and maintaining presentation materials, updating research and reports and maintaining and developing models and material to aid in the production of GAFO AR output.
* Gaining proficiency in the use of any industry databases or suppliers’ applications used in the general business of GAFO AR.
* In conjunction with other members of GAFO AR, the creation and maintenance of internal processes, procedures and industry best practices for GAFO AR.
* Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders within MUFG – both globally and regionally.
* Maintain and enhance good working relationships with stakeholders, across the region and globally to share best practices, provide support and develop effective local policies and procedures appropriate to the Company, and working in support of the One MUFG and overall Group strategy.
* Act as a first point of contact for GAFO AR for queries (internal and external), create and keep updated open items lists for each region, projects and tasks.
Skills And Experience
Functional / Technical Competencies:
* A basic understanding of banking operations/ Aviation business.
* Strong Excel.
* Creating and formatting Powerpoint presentations.
* Financial modelling experience.
Education / Qualifications:
Essential:
* Degree level educated, or equivalent qualifications.
Personal Requirements:
* Strong interest in aircraft and airlines with a desire to deepen knowledge and explore the industry in greater depth.
* Good written English, IT and numeracy skills.
* Proactive and capable of multi-tasking.
* Analytical approach to tasks.
* Ability to remain calm under pressure.
* An eye for the details – focused on efficiency, reliability and accuracy.
* Structured, logical and organised in the approach to work.
