Boskalis has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our expanding UK Survey Team.
The Hydrographic Surveyor is a self-reliant technical professional and is expected to initiate, carry out and report on all topographic and hydrographic survey work for projects. The work may include supervising trainees and local surveyors.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake variety of roles within the company, with guidance, support and training. You must be prepared to travel in the UK and Ireland and work away from home as well as on-site and head office in Fareham. Support and guidance will be given by a highly experienced senior surveyor, allowing for the development and upscaling of skill sets.
Main Tasks
* Setting up, installing, and then independently executing all topographic and hydrographic survey work for a project in line with the safety, health, environment and quality standards
* Assist Project managers in the running of projects of varying size
* Interact with dredging plant which requires survey input
* Administering the project survey data, performing all relevant calibrations, and reporting within the company QA system
* Solving technical survey problems during a project
* Supervising trainees and junior surveyors
* Staying informed about survey-related trends and developments and suggesting improvements to the Survey Operations Manager on a detailed level
Required Knowledge and Experience
* Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject, such as Hydrography, Marine Geography, Marine Science, Land survey or related field
* 3+ years experience in near and/or offshore survey industry
* Detailed and experience-based Knowledge of Multibeam and topographic systems
* Experience in the use of Qinsy (QPS software)
* Knowledge of MS Office (specifically Word and Excel)
* The capability to lead data acquisition, equipment installation and mobilisations
* The ability to work independently, with a proactive mentality.
* Full UK driving licence and Right to Work in the UK
Desirable Skills and Experience
* Previous experience in mobilisation of hydrographic equipment and vessels
* Worked within the dredging/marine construction sector
* Experience with Dredgeview software
* Experience with Beamworkx Software
* Drone survey experience
