Energy & Utilities Consulting
Energy & utilities in the UK are going through a transformation journey with the focus on making data-centric Asset Investment decisions, enhanced customer experience (through digital and data enablement), sustainable and reliable infrastructure(green energy driven water treatment, fewer leakages etc.), digitalization of the aging infrastructure, visualization of their disparate decision support systems in a single pane of glass and most importantly disruption from innovative technologies entering the marketplace. Cognizant has engagements with multiple energy & utilities clients in the UK where we are helping them being customer obsessed and lead the transformation initiatives to build new offerings, solutions and innovative business models aligned to the market trends and regulatory commitments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Engage with business and technology stakeholders to map current business processes to proposed technology components.
* Analyze business requirements and propose solutions to acquire operational data from the plant management systems to IT systems for data analysis & visualization
* Communicate new technology needs for each project to the project development teams, including communicating initial ideas so developers can make their own suggestions about how to solve the problem.
* Oversee all the moving parts of the project architecture. Ensure different teams are working well together and accomplishing all objectives.
* Determine project design before developers begin any major work. Conduct extra research on a client’s existing systems and configurations to determine whether added time and work is necessary to align the project with enterprise-level systems. Identify areas where implementation may require more solutions to be successful.
* Provide progressive assurance of the delivery against the overall programme architecture. Measure overall performance and project success once a new technology has been implemented. If anything was missed during implementation, correct the oversight
Essential skills:
* Utilities Operational Domain Knowledge
* Understanding of end-to-end business process model in Water and Wastewater treatment operations
* Understanding of supervisory and control processes
* Expertise in defining solutions for data acquisitions from operational systems and OT-IT Integration
* Understanding of operational technology elements (PLCs, RTUs, Data Loggers, SCADA systems, Timeseries historian etc.) and how they help utility operational processes
* Appreciation of protocols used in process automation – Modbus, OPC UA, OPC DA, MQTT, AMQP etc.
* Enterprise Asset Management Domain Expertise for Utilities
* Solution Design and Prototyping
* Business & technology process mapping, capability maps and value streams
* Excellent communication skills
Highly Desirable:
* Expertise in Cloud Technologies preferably Azure
* Appreciation of IoT Technologies
* An appreciation of Enterprise Architecture
