The Role: As Head of Distribution, the successful candidate will play a critical role in optimising our supply chain and ensuring exceptional customer service. This Head of Distribution role will involve managing our 3PL contract with GXO, identifying efficiency improvements, and fostering a safe and productive work environment for all. The Head of Distribution will be a key player in ensuring our distribution operations function at the highest level. The successful applicant could either come from a role where they've had experience managing a 3PL contract, or come from a 3PL supplier and looking to move inhouse. Key Responsibilities Strategic Management: Deliver the contribution of the primary distribution hub through the 3PL relationship to the overall Supply Chain strategic intent of "Leading customer service through automated efficient delivery, from all Group sites," maximising the role the PDH plays in the Group. Contract Management: Hold the 3PL partner to account for service delivery, contractual spend, and seek gain-share opportunities, whilst ensuring effective KPIs and governance structures are in place to manage required improvements and adherence to contractual obligations. Internal Partner: Develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders and teams within Highbourne Group to ensure branches are treated like 'the customer' and are able to provide our end-user customers with the best quality service in the industry. Data Analysis and Reporting: Work with data to provide information on risks, opportunities, project progress, and customer satisfaction (internal and external) to be the trusted conduit to develop and challenge the 3PL provider to the required service level. Risk Management and Resolution: Proactively identify risks and develop management approaches to minimise customer impact while holding the 3PL service provider to account via the contract to resolve any realised issues. Processes and Procedures: In collaboration with the 3PL provider, own and continuously improve standard ways of working and lead the deployment of ad hoc or large-scale change management processes, ensuring they are cost-effective and deliver the best customer service. This will include standard warehouse and transport processes as well as audit requirements, contract management processes, external accreditation requirements, and more. Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the distribution hub, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service quality. This is primarily an operational based role at our distribution centre in Warrington so whilst there is some flexibility the expectation is you should be on site as much as possible. Skills and competencies Previous experience managing 3PL contracts on similar value and complexity. Advanced understanding of distribution, logistics, and supply chain operations. Delivering complex operational change through branch/store networks with 3PL service providers. Use of various logistics and warehousing technology e.g. WMS, route planning, labour planning software etc. Negotiation & influencing skills at senior level inside client organisation and in 3PL provider management teams. Understanding of innovations in the discipline.
