Person Specification:
Qualifications - Essential criteria:
* Registered General Nurse (Currently registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council)
* Understanding and knowledge of policy developments related to the delivery of primary care services including General Practice, the GMS/PMS contract, Clinical Governance, Quality & Outcomes Framework
* Understanding of evidence-based practice and knowledge of national standards that inform practice (e.g. National Service Frameworks, NICE guidelines)
* Understanding of their accountability arising from the NMC Code of Professional Conduct (2004)
Job Responsibilities:
1. Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care – Cytology, Wound care, ulcer care, Removal of Sutures, Urinalysis, Travel Clinic, Asthma/Peak Flow Readings/Spirometry, Venepuncture, Hypertension & diabetes Management, Routine immunizations/Childhood immunizations.
2. Assist GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings; request pathology tests, for example, urine culture, swabs; chaperone and assist patients who are being examined by another clinician.
3. Interest in long-term conditions such as Diabetes, Coronary Heart Disease, and Contraception.
4. Clean and sterilise equipment using autoclave monitoring; maintain and clean equipment used by the nurses and GPs; maintain GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required.
5. Maintain stock of waiting room leaflets as instructed by partners and Practice Manager; ordering of Health Promotion Literature and stocks.
6. Order vaccinations to maintain stock levels.
7. Participate in administrative systems in the Practice, maintaining accurate records at all times.
8. Implement and lead on a full range of promotion and management of health and safety and infection control as defined in the practice Health & Safety policy, manual, and published procedures.
9. Responsible for the correct and safe management of the specimens process, including collection, labelling, handling, and transport arrangements.
10. Management and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the practice including provision, ordering, availability, and ongoing correct usage by staff.
11. Make effective use of training to update knowledge and skills, and initiate and manage the training of others across the full range of infection control and patient processes.
12. Safe management of sharps procedures including training, use, storage, and disposal.
13. Keep own work areas and general/patient areas clean and sterile, identifying issues and hazards/risks in relation to other work areas within the business.
14. Participate in any training programme implemented by the practice as part of this employment.
15. Apply practice policies, standards, and guidance; discuss with other members of the team how the policies, standards, and guidelines will affect own work; participate in audit where appropriate.

Pay: £20,164.28-£55,000.00 per year
