Role Overview:
This full-time hybrid position will be based in Milton Keynes or Bristol, with flexibility for remote work and site visits across the UK. The Design Manager will oversee project design, manage multidisciplinary teams, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain quality from concept through completion.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design Coordination: Lead coordination between architects, engineers, and stakeholders.
2. Design Management: Manage design reviews, ensuring compliance with regulations and building standards.
3. RIBA Stages: Oversee project design through all RIBA stages, from concept to post-completion.
4. Consultant Management: Coordinate with external consultants to ensure design quality and adherence to timelines.
5. Technical Review: Review architectural, structural, fire, and M&E designs for feasibility and compliance.
6. Client Communication: Act as the primary contact for clients, providing regular updates and addressing design concerns.
7. Site Support: Support construction teams on-site, ensuring design compliance throughout the build.
8. Post-Construction: Oversee evaluations to ensure completed projects meet design expectations.
Qualifications/Skills Required:
1. Strong understanding of RIBA stages and design management in construction.
2. Experience managing multidisciplinary teams in sectors like student accommodation, hotels, care homes, or office fit-outs.
3. Excellent leadership and communication skills.
4. In-depth knowledge of UK construction standards and building regulations.
5. Degree in Architecture, Design Management, or related fields.
6. Experience in the construction industry.
Additional Requirements:
Willingness to travel nationally to project sites as needed.
Professional accreditation (e.g., RIBA, CIAT) is preferred but not essential.
