Receptionist, Royal Stoke Hospital Newcastle Rd, Stoke-on-Trent ST4 6QG, UK 21 March 2025 About the Role We are looking for a friendly and professional Receptionist to join our Health Centre's Operations Team. As the first point of contact for patients and professionals, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the reception area. You will work closely with GPs, nursing staff, and other colleagues to manage appointments, bookings, and visits efficiently while providing a positive and welcoming experience for all visitors. Your Day to Day As a Receptionist, your responsibilities will include: Opening the premises and restoring telephone service at the start of the day. Signposting patients according to Health Centre protocols. Managing GP and clinician appointments via the clinical system, alongside direct bookings from NHS111. Recording requests for home visits and re-directing urgent calls to the duty doctor. Issuing repeat prescriptions and liaising with GPs and nurses. Filing patient medical records, results, and letters, ensuring accurate electronic and paper-based filing. Assisting with patient registrations and preparing medical folders for new patients. Greeting patients and noting their arrival times, ensuring effective communication with the team. Observing the waiting area and taking appropriate action if a patient's condition deteriorates. Supporting doctors during surgeries and liaising with secondary care providers, including arranging transport when necessary. Maintaining clean and safe clinical areas, ensuring all rooms are stocked and prepared for use. Ensuring security measures are in place, including locking rooms when not in use. Supporting and encouraging colleagues and maintaining safety across the Health Centre. Qualifications, Experience & Training 5 GCSE incl. English Lang & Maths, or NVQ level 2, or significant, relevant work experience Computer Literate Willingness to undertake full training Excellent communications listening and interpersonal skills Ability to evidence in writing, verbally and through listening skills, personal understanding and use of English language Excellent communications and interpersonal skills are essential The ability to work as part of a team towards Health Centre objectives Professional approach Patient focused Excellent team working skills Reward & Benefits Annual Leave (pro rata for Part Time) - 25 days annual leave (plus Bank Holidays).
