Mechanical Technician
The role: To support in the management of the Mechanical maintenance department to ensure:
1. Highest standards of H&S are continually followed
2. Legislative compliance is fulfilled
3. Best practice maintenance techniques are utilized to provide highest possible asset availability
Tasks / Functions / Main Responsibilities:
Main Responsibilities:
Health & Safety
1. Follow the Site H&S procedures, practices and propose improvements
2. Report any problems and issues immediately following site procedures
3. Promote site H&S standards and challenge where necessary
4. Lead H&S investigations
5. Undertake allocated H&S actions
6. Ensure awareness of current legislative and statutory requirements to maintain site compliance
7. Audit site maintenance activities to ensure site safety standards are followed
Environmental
1. Responsible for environmental aspects in own area.
2. Follow the site environmental procedures, practices and propose improvements.
3. Report any problems and issues immediately by using the site procedures
4. Ensure site environmental critical equipment is maintained to relevant Mechanical standard
Quality
1. Ensure site quality critical equipment is maintained to relevant Mechanical standard
2. Suggest innovations to ensure customer satisfaction is guaranteed
3. Audit quality of site maintenance activities
Specific Tasks: (this list is not exhaustive)
1. Preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance tasks in responsibility area and other areas when needed
2. Preparation of preventative, corrective and shutdown works
3. Ensure that urgent work order will be raised and given to maintenance in case of breakdown situation or urgent maintenance activities.
4. Shutdown work in own responsibility area or workshops as needed
5. Act as work group leader for external resources as needed
6. Request sign on of permits and isolations from production
7. Communicate and collect information of production problems from production teams
8. Inform solid line supervisor of any changes of assigned work or problems at work progress
9. Support Area Engineers or Area Responsible in troubleshooting as needed
10. Execute all assigned work orders in agreed schedule
11. Ensure work quality of all maintenance activities done
12. Looking for failure development and taking corrective action or initiating work request or reporting to the Area Responsible
13. Execution of immediate small repairs and corrective tasks for machinery or equipment when notified or needed
14. Reporting all activities in Maximo including failure code and failure findings
15. Participation in standby system and shift work as agreed
16. Provide absence cover for colleagues
17. Deliver contracted committed hours per year
18. Define update needs of preventative maintenance work orders
19. Execution of onsite refurbishments in the workshops as needed
20. Execute activities given by solid line supervisor
21. Maximo skills are defined in separate skill matrix
22. Request Maximo changes of any findings from CMMS admin
Additional Responsibilities for Shift:
1. Shift fitters will be utilized as first resources for maintenance activities, which have the potential to shut down production line or have a major/severe safety impact or risk to cause reportable environmental event
2. Responsible for communication between production and maintenance outside office hours
3. First point of contact for production outside office hours
4. Perform minor maintenance activities
5. Report all shift maintenance activities into Maximo
6. Ensure production is aware of all maintenance activities and progress of maintenance tasks
7. Troubleshooting of issues
8. Support production teams in troubleshooting, when required
9. Evaluate support requirements, in case of breakdown situation
10. Communicate with on-call support
11. Responsible to define required preparation tasks with on call support in breakdown situation
12. Ensure that required preparations task will be started as soon as possible

Qualifications: Time Served Apprenticeship with relevant experience, NVQ Level 3 / HNC/HND
Location: Based in Carrington-Manchester
Salary: GBP42,050
Working Hours: Usually Monday-Friday 07.30-16.00
