Your future role
Responsible for overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of rolling stock (trains and rail vehicles) to ensure they meet safety, performance, and regulatory standards. This includes the mitigation of safety and reliability risks, conducting root cause analysis, and defining long-term resolutions. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including designers, manufacturers, suppliers, and operators, to manage projects from concept through to completion.
We'll look to you for:
* Identify and implement safe, cost effective, containment and countermeasures to identified product safety issues.
* Develop and deliver engineering change to improve fleet/system reliability performance.
* Support the depot to resolve operational issues and arbitrate fitness to run decisions.
* Support the Project Reliability Board to implement containment and countermeasures on identified key reliability failure modes.
* Lead improvement projects to reduce train maintenance and operation costs.
* Implement customer variation orders, train presentation improvements as well as identification and follow through of Risk and opportunity management.
* Incident root cause analysis and performance attribution.
* Support day-to-day depot operations teams in resolving arising fleet issues.
* The successful candidate will be required to work at height and in enclosed spaces from time to time.

* Degree level HNC/HND in an engineering related subject or equivalent.
* Must have experience in rolling stock and have a rail background.
* Experience in organisation and project planning/ management skills.
* Understanding of key engineering processes and standards.
* Problem-solving abilities and practical experience of root cause analysis techniques.
* Computer literate (MS Windows + Office, Microsoft Projects, Maximo, SAP).
