Handpicked Wines is not your average winery. We are dynamic and family owned, crafting top quality wines that offer a true sense of place, a place we are keen to share with Melbourne! The Mornington Peninsula is home to our winery and flagship vineyard Capella, but winemaking spreads to our fully-owned and organically-farmed vineyards across the country, from Barossa Valley to Tasmania.
Our business is growing, and we have a new position available for a full-time Cellar Door Supervisor to join our team at our Urban Cellar Door in Melbourne.
Much like our wines, this role is not your traditional hospitality role. It involves looking after our guests and sharing a premium fine wine cellar door experience with them. You will be guiding them through tastings, suggesting cheese and charcuterie matches, and imparting your passion and knowledge for all things fine wine and food.
You will report to the Cellar Door Manager and responsibilities include:
* Supervise Cellar Door food and wine service to ensure a premium and seamless customer experience and maximise sales.
* Maintain a high standard in presentation, cleanliness and neatness of cellar door and surrounds.
* Represent the company at cellar door, events, workshops and in collaboration within the local businesses and community if required.
* Plan, manage and execute events / corporate orders to meet customer expectations and requirements ensuring revenue is maximised.
* Deal with general cellar correspondence and phone and email enquiries.
* Process, prepare and dispatch phone / email / online orders and assist with inventory management / stock control.
* Assist with opening and closing procedure and cash reconciliation.
* Supervise the cellar door team to ensure premium customer service standard and HPE policies and procedures are adhered to.
* Assist Cellar Door Manager as required to conduct new staff inductions and training.
* Actively promote the sale of the company’s wine, products, services and promotional materials in store.
* Actively promote and suggest additional products to events customers as part of their event or corporate package to increase revenue.
* Supervise and assist at Cellar Door events.
* Facilitate and conduct wine tasting events for customers.
Ideally you will:
* Have an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for the wine industry.
* Have Premium Hospitality, Event and Retail supervisory background with knowledge of wines and wine production.
* Be a team player who enjoys a fast-paced hospitality environment.
* Be a Team Leader who can adapt, supervise, and motivate a team through a hands-on approach and positive attitude.
* Have a commitment to excellence and the highest standards in customer service, sales and presentation.
* Have a high level of communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build strong relationships.
* Relevant qualifications in wine, sales, hospitality and / or event management will be highly regarded.
* Ability to organise events and orders from start to completion with a high level of responsiveness and follow through to ensure high standards of service are met.
* Strong attention to detail and accountability with ability to multitask and prioritise tasks.
* Organised with experience in managing projects and events.
* Experience in creating rosters in light of service requirements and budget constraints.
* Experience in ordering stock and reconciling inventory.
We have a great working environment with a supportive, inclusive, and inspirational team, competitive remuneration with wine and spirits discounts. Training with our sommeliers, chefs and winemakers is provided, and there are opportunities to grow personally and professionally within the group.
If you have a valid RSA and enjoy working flexible hours including some (not that late) evenings or weekends then we’d love to hear from you.
