Job Description:
About our programme:
We’ve been voted second in TheJobCrowd’s list of Top Construction and Civil Engineering Companies for Apprentices across the UK, and our award-winning Trainee Programme is designed to give you valuable, hands-on experience where you will develop technical skills, meet new people, and gain an academic qualification. We are also proud to be a platinum member of the % club – an association that recognises employers with at least % of their workforce in ‘earn and learn’ positions.
Work with industry-leading professionals in a full-time role, starting an exciting and rewarding career where you can add value to society.
Our development programme comprises five modules running alongside your role. These modules aim to enhance your interpersonal and leadership skills while complementing your technical training.
We will fund your academic qualification, tailored to your role, academic level, and ambitions. We offer apprenticeships at various levels, including degree apprenticeships.
If you are eager to gain practical experience and a recognised qualification, our Trainee Programmes could be the foundation for your career with Galliford Try.
What you will be doing:
You will enroll in an apprenticeship suited to your educational background, with levels ranging from basic to degree-level, as discussed during the interview and confirmed upon offer. The programme will lead to a qualification in your chosen field and practical skills development.
Alongside, you will participate in our Trainee Development Programme, receiving training over a year, culminating in a graduation event.
As an Apprentice Planner, you will support construction planning for live projects and, as you gain experience, assist with pre-construction planning, including:
* Understanding project management, logistics, and sequencing
* Reporting progress using Asta Powerproject and SiteProgress app
* Updating trackers and testing new software
* Supporting tender/pre-construction programmes and managing enquiries
* Interpreting programmes, creating phasing drawings, and considering logistics and constraints
* Site visits to assess conditions and constraints
* Liaising with stakeholders to develop compliant programmes
* Supporting the production of As-Built records and programme strategies
* Understanding Preliminaries Assessment and Galliford Try BMS systems
This is a full-time, permanent role mainly based around Cambridgeshire, with projects across the East Midlands and East of England.
Why work with us:
We are committed to improving the UK’s built environment and delivering lasting community benefits. Our culture fosters growth, inclusivity, and environmental responsibility, supported by initiatives like Agile Working, wellbeing programmes, and partnerships promoting mental health.
Our benefits include a competitive salary, flexible working, generous holiday entitlement, discounts, cycle schemes, share purchase schemes, and medical options.
What we’re looking for:
* Enthusiasm to learn and engage with projects
* Passion, adaptability, and flexibility
* Good communication skills and team orientation
* Eligibility to work in the UK without restrictions
Additional Information:
We welcome applications for full-time, part-time, or flexible roles and encourage candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply, even if they do not meet every requirement.
