Description:
Experienced and proactive Process Improvement Engineer required by our globally renowned client to identify, implement and sustain continuous process improvement activities across a busy manufacturing operation. Our client has been established for more than 35 years and is a recognised market leader in the design and development, manufacture, and distribution of an impressive portfolio of electrical cabling and connection solutions for supply throughout the world. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now looking to recruit an experienced, hands-on, and proactive Process Improvement Engineer to complement their professional and successful manufacturing team.
Responsibilities:
1. Evaluate and identify areas for improvement within various manufacturing processes.
2. Undertake research before designing and implementing solutions that will increase production efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve quality/reduce waste and scrap levels.
3. Review current business processes to identify areas of improvement.
4. Utilise comprehensive understanding of lean principles, continuous improvement, and problem-solving tools to eliminate waste and production bottlenecks.
5. Provide detailed plant expenditure proposals using project management tools (Planner) to restructure manufacturing flow across various departments.
6. Collect accurate data to analyse and improve processes and support problem-solving activities within the manufacturing function.
7. Issue documentation and implement staff training on new procedures to improve efficiencies and ensure competency.
8. Resolve quality issues of product capability, surface finish, and shape-related issues.
9. Ensure consistent repeatable processes and product quality.
10. Perform site and building layout and design, analysing and planning workflow, personnel movement, space requirements, and equipment layout to improve all areas of process flow, efficiencies, and output.
Minimum Requirements:
To be considered for this varied and challenging hands-on Process Improvement Engineer role, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will have at least 4 years proven experience in a dedicated process improvement manufacturing environment and demonstrable considerable project management success. You will be skilled and qualified in various lean manufacturing processes and methodologies (5S, PDCA, Kaizen, Kanban, etc.) and realistically qualified to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline (preferably chemical, mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering), with experience of AutoCAD and the MS suite of products. With excellent influencing and communication skills at all levels and the ability to diagnose and define problems, measure/collect and analyse data, determine root cause, select and implement solutions, and control/sustain outcomes, you will be both results and data-driven to improve and sustain change and thrive within a continuous improvement focused environment.
