Hours
37.5 hours - Day shifts will vary from 7.30-7.30, 10-10pm, 7.30-5.30pm. This will include working every other weekend, bank holidays, and night shifts. This can include working in all areas of the prison but mainly reception areas.
Salary
This position is full time, you will receive an annual salary up to £52,507 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
As an Early Days in Custody Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will:
* Ensure patients have medical plans of care, assess patients, and carry out relevant clinical investigations during their arrival, along with arranging follow-up appointments for them whilst offering advice and giving information.
* Be able to clinically evaluate and ensure the safe transfer of patients to acute hospitals if needed, as well as ensuring that plans of care are understood by the patient and the prison as appropriate. You will demonstrate critical thinking skills in clinical decision making.
* Support in undertaking audits and governance.
* Provide healthcare to patients on-site in the healthcare unit in the prison. This will include some emergency care such as suturing, providing emergency response, undertaking dressings, and performing a primary care function.

Qualifications required
* Registered nurse Adult.
* Current professional qualification (NMC or HCPC).
* Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working.
* Understanding of clinical governance, health and safety, QOF, EBP, and national standards.
* Understanding of audit and Datix.
Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community, or prison environment.
