We are currently looking for a Visitor Services Manager to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the efficient daily running of the visitor facilities and providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors to Pontardawe Arts Centre.
The main duties of the post include:
* Manage the visitor services team at Pontardawe Arts Centre including Technician, Duty Officers, Theatre assistants, Box office/Bar assistants, Cleaners, casual staff, and volunteers. This will include preparing rotas, staff recruitment, and staff-related admin such as payroll and sickness management. Supervise catering and bar staff when necessary.
* Organise Duty Officer cover at the centre on a rota basis, ensuring that the centre is safe, clean, and ready for opening to the public each morning, and is safely secured at the end of the working day, being on hand to provide information and assistance to all visitors.
* Participate in the Duty Officer rota as required.
* Assist the Theatre Manager in delivering the Pontardawe Arts Centre Business Plan.
* Carry out or delegate facilities management tasks as required; for example, fire alarm tests, fire extinguisher, and security alarm tests.
* Implement correct financial procedures including cash handling and cashing up.
* Manage the Centre diary for the efficient use and security of the centre ensuring all users are catered for with no clashes.
* Ensure that all aspects of legislation requirements are met, including Health and Safety, licensing, Safeguarding, Disability Discrimination Act, Data Protection, and Welsh Language Act.
* Carry out and review Risk Assessments as appropriate.
* Act as Fire Warden and First Aider.
* Interpret the features of the centre to enhance the visitor experience (via interpretation display boards, leaflets, interactive media, etc.).
* Manage the centre work experience programme offered to schools, colleges, and universities.
* Be the principal liaison officer with regular groups using the centre.
* Act as a key member of the Pontardawe Arts Centre Management Team and advise colleagues on all areas pertaining to day-to-day operational issues.
* Liaise with colleagues in other NPTCBC Departments e.g. Legal, Special Events, Health and Safety as appropriate.
* Liaise with all schools and other education providers regarding their use of the Centre.
* Deal effectively with public enquiries and complaints.
* Work on Rota including evenings and weekends.
* Undertake such other duties which may be reasonably required commensurate with the salary grade and capabilities of the post holder.
You will have experience in:
* Significant experience of working in a busy Arts/theatre/cinema Venue.
* Experience of organising, managing, and promoting events.
* Experience of supervising staff and planning rotas.
* Experience of working with and supervising volunteers.
Ideally you will have:
* Educated to degree level or equivalent or significant experience in the Arts/theatre/cinema/leisure environment.
* First aid at work certification.
* Health & Safety qualification to IOSH standard.
Pontardawe Arts Centre
Pontardawe Arts Centre is a traditional theatre which hosts professional work of the highest calibre, from folk, world and blues to stand-up comedy, celebrity talks, dance, drama, literature, and children’s events.
The centre is undergoing an exciting expansion and upgrading process, including adding a new 74-seat cinema. The project aims to overhaul the centre and enable it to screen the latest film releases seven days a week, featuring improvements to the café and bar, a redesigned ticket office area, and various cosmetic enhancements to elevate the centre's facilities.
As the Visitor Services Manager, you will be at the heart of our operations, working closely with the Manager to ensure our arts centre and cinema operation runs smoothly every day. You will play a crucial role in shaping the visitor experience while leading our Front of House department to deliver exceptional customer service across our busy programme of events. The Visitor Services Manager works under the direction of the Manager supporting them on a day-to-day basis and overseeing the department in their absence. The Visitor Services Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Front of House department, staff, sales, and operations to provide the highest quality of customer service, in a manner which is always calm, professional, friendly, and reassuring.
