Temporary Finance/ Data Business Analyst

Support the delivery of financial and data-driven transformation initiatives across the organization through comprehensive analysis, solution design, and stakeholder collaboration. This role requires expertise in interpreting financial data, analysing business performance, and identifying trends to inform decision-making and support process improvements.
Work closely with project team and service leads, capturing detailed business requirements, developing actionable insights, and driving the delivery of robust financial and operational solutions. Design and document workflows, process improvements, and reporting mechanisms that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency. Actively contribute to workshops, meetings, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring outputs such as minutes, actions, and insights are delivered to a high standard.
Key responsibilities:
* Gather and analyse financial and operational requirements using interviews, document analysis, workshops, surveys, data reviews, and process evaluations.
* Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, including forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and financial control mechanisms, and implement best practices to enhance efficiency.
* Analyse complex datasets to identify trends, forecast outcomes, and assess the financial impact of proposed initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals.
* Research and benchmark performance against industry standards, identifying innovative solutions and practices to optimize financial and operational performance.
* Design and implement performance dashboards, key performance indicators (KPIs), and reporting tools that provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
* Produce high-quality, evidence-based reports and recommendations, ensuring clarity and relevance for decision-making.
* Collaborate with project managers and team leads to document user stories, business requirements, risks, issues, and actions, ensuring alignment with overall project objectives.
* Facilitate workshops and focus groups to engage stakeholders, including service users and team members, ensuring their input shapes transformation initiatives.
* Provide advice, guidance, and support on financial and data-related issues to ensure clear understanding and informed decision-making across the organization.
* Build strong, collaborative relationships with stakeholders at all levels, fostering trust and cooperation to deliver project goals.
Key requirements:
* AAT qualified, part qualified CCAB or CII + ongoing study OR equivalent experience.
* Experience in process mapping, solution design, and implementation of financial or operational improvements.
* Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage with stakeholders and present findings effectively.
* Strong analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate complex financial and operational data.
* Proficiency in financial analysis, reporting tools, and statistical methodologies.
* Expert user of Excel query, Power BI and Oracle/NEC reporting would be an advantage.
