SEN Teacher – Permanent Role in Newcastle (NE1)
A dedicated and inclusive Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Newcastle is seeking a passionate and experienced SEN Teacher to join their team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a committed professional to support students with complex learning needs, providing tailored education that enables them to reach their full potential.
The school caters to children and young people with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. The successful candidate will play a key role in creating an engaging, structured, and supportive learning environment where students feel safe, valued, and encouraged to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons that meet the needs of students with SEN
* Develop individualised learning plans to support students’ educational and personal development
* Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and support staff to provide holistic support
* Use a variety of teaching methods and strategies, including sensory-based learning and structured interventions
* Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes independence and confidence
* Regularly assess and monitor student progress, adapting approaches as needed
* Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for students
* Contribute to the wider school community and uphold the school’s ethos of inclusivity and respect
Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
* Experience working with students with SEND, ideally within a specialist or mainstream SEN setting
* Strong understanding of SEN strategies, including behaviour management and alternative communication methods
* A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting students with additional needs
* Excellent teamwork and communication skills
