A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced Family Paralegal to join one of the largest teams within the firm in their Farnham office. The role is for a progressive firm with multiple offices across the south. Long established, it has a strong presence in most practice areas.
The firm's Family department is busy and successful, collaborating with some of the leading Family Law experts in the Surrey area. In this role, you will engage in a diverse range of family matters, encompassing both private and publicly funded cases.
Job Description
1. To liaise with all members of the department to ensure good management of diaries.
2. Meeting with clients to assist with the preparation of documents, i.e., Form E financial statements, including obtaining necessary documents, collating and scheduling the same, and liaising with clients regarding amendments to documents.
3. Ensuring new enquiries are dealt with promptly.
4. To ensure that all family Court hearings and directions are diarized and actioned at the appropriate time.
5. To liaise with clients, Counsel, the Court, and other third parties via e-mail, telephone, in person, etc.
6. Preparation of bills for the department for approval by fee earner and sending to clients.
7. Initial credit control for the department, liaising with fee earners regarding outstanding invoices and actions to be taken, i.e., referral to credit control.
8. Dealing initially with any queries raised by a client, in consultation with the fee earner, regarding fees incurred.
9. To liaise with clients to ensure funds have been received on account for Counsel’s fees and other disbursements.
10. Arranging payment of Counsel’s fees upon receipt of invoice.
11. Daily monitoring of Court Portal - updating case status, approved sealed orders, notice of hearings, etc.
12. Preparation of hearing bundles together with other practice direction documents in advance of hearings, being aware of and keeping up-to-date with the Practice Direction rules regarding hearing bundles.
13. Preparation of cost statements (Form H, Form H1, N260) in advance of hearings and ensuring these are filed and served in accordance with the Court directions.
14. Ensuring files are correctly set up in Proclaim and that all compliance checks have been completed.
15. BigHand dictations.
16. Preparation of standard letters to be sent to clients using standard templates, i.e., enclosing Notice of Hearing, etc.
17. Organising and taking minutes for Department meetings.
18. Other department admin tasks.
The ideal candidate:
1. Possess a minimum of 2 years' experience in a family department.
2. Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge across all aspects of family law.
3. Proficient in IT.

5. Capable of working independently, showcasing initiative, and solving problems effectively.
6. Exhibit excellent communication skills.
