Job summary The HSDU is responsible for providing a decontamination service within Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust and other specialist users outside the organisation as in accordance with the UK Medical Device Directive and ISO 13485: 2016 To work as part of a team in the decontamination unit Assist in the day to day running of the department through: Supervising/training team members to undertake decontamination duties in all areas of the re-processing of Medical Devices by the receipt, wash, assembly, pack, sterilization, delivery and tracking and tracing process in accordance with policies and procedures, to both internal and external customers, providing a safe product for use in direct patient care. The shift pattern is for the following: Monday to Friday 1600-2400 One weekend in four with days off in lieu. To work in accordance with the organizations/departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance by self and others. To monitor the quality of products by carrying out regular quality checks and discussing with the Operational Manager any non- conformities and the appropriate course of action To perform a full range of decontamination duties, and be able to work in all areas of the decontamination process. The role involves exposure to blood and body fluids during periods of training. Keep records up to date in own area of work and raise any concerns with a member of management.
