Job Description:
Position Summary
To develop, liaise and deliver packages of construction works within a defined scope overseeing and interfacing with the activity of a number of consortium partners and sub contractors to ensure work is conducted within established safety, quality, schedule and cost standards.
Main Responsibilities
1. Take responsibility for defined ‘packages’ of work through the full construction work-cycle.
2. Co-ordinate construction reviews and produce instructions, installation sequencing and method statement documentation.
3. Utilise existing and/or develop new construction methodologies, processes and procedures.
4. Assist subordinates in problem solving and determining appropriate solutions.
5. Utilise decision-making latitude and prioritise activities to achieve objectives.
6. Demonstrate relevant industry experience and knowledge of standard construction principles.
7. Liaise with customers/stakeholders within area of construction scope.
8. Ensure completion of activities on time, to the required quality and target costs.
Main Accountabilities
1. Provide direction to engineers and sub-contractors to ensure construction tasks are achieved in line with standards.
2. Co-ordinate sub-contractors to ensure compliance with safety, quality, schedule and cost standards.
3. Collate relevant documentation to maintain and report accurate event profiles.
4. Delivery of Construction Work Packages in a timely manner.
5. Comply with national laws/regulations and adhere to the Construction Management Process.
6. Implement key safety/quality communications.
7. Look for opportunities for efficiency savings and contribute to continuous improvement.
8. Support delivery of Operational Excellence initiatives.
9. Build and maintain an internal and external relationship network.
10. Liaise with Construction Manager and/or Teams effectively.
11. Complete and issue reports in a timely manner.
12. Take accountability for personal Professional Development Record.
13. Successful completion of assessment and development plans for you and your reports.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience Required
1. General Education: Time Served Apprentice / NVQ level 2 /C&G, ECITB SMTDS / NVQ Level 3 or 4 ACE.
2. Professional Qualifications: ONC/HNC/HND in Mech./ Elec / Civil / Str / Piping / EC & I Engineering or significant related experience.
3. General: IT Skills, Planning and Project Management, Navisworks Freedom, Microsoft Office, Knowledge of CDM, Temporary Works and related, Nuclear Contracts.
4. Experience: Minimum of 3 years involvement in Management of Engineering or Construction Activities.
Challenges & Areas of Focus
1. Knowledge and application of construction methodologies and processes.
2. In-depth knowledge of Construction Management Process (CMP).
3. Knowledge of UK/EU Laws and Regulations applicable to construction.
4. Understanding of problem solving and risk management techniques.
5. Good working knowledge of Installation techniques and related engineering construction industry.
6. Experience with Critical Task processes.
7. Extensive experience of minimum safety documentation requirements.
