We are seeking an experienced and motivated Patient Services Manager to support our Operational Facilities Manager in driving both the strategic vision and daily operations of Hotel Services across Trust sites, with a particular focus on cleaning and patient catering services. In this key role, you will play a central part in the promotion, development, and management of these critical services, ensuring the highest standards of performance and stakeholder satisfaction. You will work collaboratively with team members and management to meet and exceed performance targets, contributing to a positive and effective working environment. The post holder is expected to be flexible with working hours when required to meet changing and competing service demands working 5 shifts per week over late evenings and nights.
Main duties of the job
As the Patient Services Manager, you will:
1. Provide operational leadership and support for all users of the Hotel Services function, delivering services with efficiency, effectiveness, and responsiveness.
2. Lead, motivate, and support the Hotel Services team to ensure optimal service delivery, especially during evening and night hours.
3. Deputise for the Facilities Operations Manager as needed, ensuring continuity of operations.
4. Take responsibility for managing the evening and overnight workforce, ensuring that all outpatient departments and communal areas are fully serviced out of hours.
5. Primarily manage operations on the Derriford Hospital site, with responsibilities that may extend to other community locations as required.
6. Establish and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, promoting collaboration and communication.

Job responsibilities
1. To develop effective partnerships with other departments and Corporate Functions to deliver the strategic and operational priorities of the Trust.
2. To develop and maintain relationships with external bodies to ensure that service delivery is aligned to required legislation and regulation.
3. To implement effective communication strategies and techniques to enable staff involvement and engagement in decision making.
4. Present complex recommendations for change to staff and other disciplines of staff: commitment to implementing service improvement and providing advice for implementation within the organisation.
5. Undertake team meetings to inform about change in working practice that may be complex and need persuasive skills to enable staff to engage.
6. To maintain effective communication within the departments / Directorate and with other Groups.
7. To maintain close and effective communication with key stakeholders including Infection Prevention & Control, Matrons and other senior Clinical leaders to ensure the service is meeting expectations, complying with regulatory guidelines and service user needs are being met.
8. To communicate and convey information which can be complex or contentious to hotel services staff and key stakeholders.
9. To advise and influence others within the organisation in all matters relevant to the service provision and provide detailed advice to other disciplines of staff.
10. To ensure yourself and the Supervisory team are approachable and have the ability to deal with sensitive and confidential matters regarding Staff members, patients and visitors.
11. To attend Leadership and Management meetings as required.
12. To represent the Trust in external meetings relating to the services.
Person Specification
Qualifications
1. Degree or equivalent qualification or equivalent and/or equivalent experience.
2. Further post graduate qualification or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of specialist knowledge and skills acquired through relevant experience.
3. Educated to ECDL or equivalent with experience and confidence across MS Suite.
4. Willingness to undertake further training and personal development.
Knowledge and Experience
1. Significant demonstrable experience and record of success in a management role.
2. Demonstrable experience of leading teams and managing complex staffing issues in a fast paced, pressurised and customer focussed environment.
3. Demonstrable experience of implementing systems to improve customer/ patient safety and experience.
4. Proven knowledge of Food Safety and Health & Safety legislation.
