As a Disclosure Researcher you will handle applications for the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for individuals who may have access to children and vulnerable persons for employment purposes. This involves researching both conviction and non-conviction data on the individuals concerned. What you’ll do Develop Knowledge: Gain a thorough understanding of the National Quality Assurance Framework (QAF) and local processes to make informed decisions about information on local systems and the Police National Computer (PNC) related to risks to children or vulnerable adults. I nformation Gathering: Interrogate local and national systems, contact relevant agencies and officers to gather necessary information, ensuring it is relevant and appropriate for disclosure in compliance with legislation. Quality Assurance: Review and verify information provided by DBS applicants, identifying any errors or omissions according to local and national processes. Audit Trail Creation: Document the decision-making process, ensuring it aligns with relevant legislation and is clearly presented. Adhere to QAF: Follow the DBS Quality Assurance Framework to make decisions about discarding non-relevant information without escalation, considering proportionality, relevancy, and risk, and recording these decisions in the QAF audit trail.
