The new Escort MK1 RS by Boreham Motorworks is being built in Newton Aycliffe starting in 2025. The Recruitment Bunker is exclusively looking for skilled BIW (Body in White) fabricators to join the DRVN Automotive group's team in early 2025 and build these sought-after continuation cars at DRVN Automotive's centre for fabrication and paint excellence on Newton Aycliffe's Business Park.
This limited run of 300bhp/800kg road and race cars is officially licensed by Ford, making this a unique opportunity to work on an incredibly significant project in the rich history of the brand. We strive to deliver a "peak analogue" driving experience to our customers.

Location: Newton Aycliffe, just 1 minute off A1(M) Junction 59
Responsibilities
1. Company Policies: Manage and follow the quality, health, safety, and welfare policies of the company.
2. Component Fabrication: Fabricate and assemble structural components of vehicle bodies according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
3. Welding: Perform various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and spot welding, to join metal components together securely and accurately.
4. Metal Forming: Utilise metal forming equipment such as presses, rollers, and brakes to shape and form sheet metal into required components.
5. Assembly: Assemble fabricated components into the body structure, ensuring proper alignment, fit, and finish.
6. Development: Develop prototype body build phases, identifying fabrication processes and jig and fixture concerns to ensure alignment with production intent.
7. Quality Control: Inspect fabricated components and assembled structures to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
Essential Skills
1. NVQ or an equivalent qualification within a relevant Automotive Technical subject area.
2. Proven experience as a welder or fabricator in a manufacturing or automotive environment.
3. Proficiency in welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and spot welding, with the ability to pass welding certification tests.
4. Strong knowledge of metal fabrication techniques, equipment, and materials.
5. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and follow guidance documents.
6. Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, repeatable work.
7. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
8. Physical ability and dexterity to perform fabrication tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
9. Commitment to safety and adherence to safety regulations and procedures.
Desirable Skills
1. An understanding of industry and regulatory requirements such as Quality System Regulations (IATF16949, ISO9001, 5S, TPM, KPI's).
2. Coded TIG welding qualifications already held.
3. Experience in low volume, high-quality car body production using traditional metalworking techniques.
4. An interest or high-level knowledge in the design and engineering of classic Ford vehicles.
