Pastoral Support Officer
Grade 6 point 9, actual starting salary £22,244.30
Hours: 8.00 am – 16.00 or 08:30 – 16:30

Do have the personal qualities needed to provide support for pupils whose behaviour or attendance is affecting their progress?
Are you able to support Heads of Year to help children whose difficulties might range from poor self discipline to more complex social and welfare issues?
Do you have excellent interpersonal skills? Are you able to efficiently liaise with teachers? Do you have an ability to deal with pupils so that they feel they have been dealt with consistency and fairness? Are you confident in communicating with parents and other professionals? Do you have an inclusive, positive and creative approach?
Your duties would typically include supporting Heads of Year by:
* Mentoring students 1:1 or in small groups working through programmes in consultation with teaching staff e.g. behaviour modification
* Investigation of student incidents. This will mainly concern incidents of student behaviour but will also include welfare issues.
* Liaison with parents / carers and outside agencies.
* Contribute to extracurricular activities that promote pupils’ social development
* Administrative duties including record keeping, gathering information on students, rewards systems, uniform, other clerical work
It is expected that the Pastoral Support Officer will be able to show initiative and be able to take responsibility and work within set boundaries with sound judgment as to when to act independently and when to refer or seek advice.
