Mersey View Learning Trust Management Accountant Permanent, Full Time £52,805 Mersey View Learning Trust was incorporated in 2024 and we are six academies who teach and care for over 3000 learners in Merseyside. All the academies are equal collaborators in school improvement and raising aspirations in young people to achieve great things academically and personally. Our collaboration of academies was borne out of our shared desire to create outstanding provision for all learners within our communities. Our vision and values focus on inclusion, aspiration and care for all our learners and staff. It is an exciting time to join Mersey View Learning Trust, at an early stage in the development of our Trust and a keenness to streamline processes, improve controls and bring efficiencies across all aspects of Trust finance. Having reviewed our central team operations, we are now adding capacity in Management Accounting. This is a true business partnering role in which you will have responsibility for timely and accurate Management Accounts production for the Trustees. Your other key stakeholders will be the members of the Central Trust Team, Headteachers and School Business Managers. You will be an excellent communicator and confident in explaining financial information to non-finance staff. To be successful in this post you will have an inquisitive nature, willing to persevere to get to the bottom of a problem and find a resolution. You will be a qualified accountant (or nearly/qualified by experience) with broad experience of accounting packages (we currently use Access for Education Finance and Budgets), excellent Excel and strong IT skills. Experience of working within a MAT environment would be beneficial but not crucial but you should have some experience of working in an educational setting. Also important is the ability to effectively manage your time on multiple tasks whilst achieving deadlines; willingness to learn and understand the multi-faceted pressures of the school environment; strong communication skills (both internal and external); attention to detail; and a positive outlook. The next 12 months will see a period of growth and change within the department, as our newly academised schools settle into our Trust and the central processes and procedures are refined and embedded and the successful candidate will be expected to actively contribute in this area. There is an opportunity for the right candidate to influence outcomes and enact real improvements. Mersey View Learning Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its pupils and expects those working at the Trust to share this commitment. The Trust is required under law and guidance to check the criminal background of all employees. Decisions to appoint will be subject to consideration of an Enhanced Disclosure, including a Barred List check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
