Pension Administration (Fixed Term 12 months contract)
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team working across our Benefits business unit including Employee Benefits and Rail Administration on a FTC contract (Maternity cover) basis based in the Darlington office (hybrid working).
Who we are
Railpen is responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £34 billion in assets and the administration of several pension schemes, including the Railways Pension Scheme, one of the UK's largest and longest established pension funds.
Our heritage of looking after the pension needs of the rail industry and its employees gives us our name and our unique outlook on how we serve our members. Railpen takes a holistic view, focusing on how we serve members today and how we can positively impact the communities and the world they will retire into.
The role
Employee Benefits and Rail Administration are responsible for offering administration, communications, and engagement services to the Railways pension schemes, as well as wider third-party administered clients. We support hybrid and flexible working for this role, as well as remote working contracts.
These teams are made up of Employer Support, Administration Services including Payroll & Bereavement, Correspondence & Complaints, Complex Calculations, Data Capture including Retirements and Transfers, and Operations which covers Railpen’s third-party clients. All of which provide administration of the multiple sections which make up the Railway Pension Scheme.
Our teams are often the first point of contact in the life cycle of the pension journey and look after the day-to-day scheme administration needs of our members and pride ourselves on delivering excellent quality of service. These roles play an integral part in supporting our purpose to secure our members' future; without these outstanding teams, we wouldn’t be the successful organization we are today.
This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.
The person
We are looking for individuals who are customer-focused and thrive in a fast-paced evolving environment. You will be passionate about doing a good job and be quality-focused in your approach while being able to work to deadlines. The ability to interact in both a professional and compassionate way through written and verbal communication is essential as you will need to communicate with both colleagues and members through various channels including telephone, email, and post.
Pension administration experience is essential, particularly in defined contributions. Ideally, you will have a minimum of 2 years pension knowledge which we can support you with in building on this knowledge through training and qualifications during your career with Railpen.
Our values of integrity, community, and alignment are the guiding principles that influence our behavior. They help us make decisions and shape our relationships with others. They’re what we stand for. You will actively demonstrate our values, helping to create a safe environment, to place the needs of the community above oneself and, through a culture of ‘fair challenge’, align to the best interests of our members.
