About the Role
We are searching for an enthusiastic and innovative Associate Electrochemist motivated to reverse climate change and help scale our technology. Based in Manchester, UK, you’ll collaborate with our Electrochemical Engineer to optimise performance, materials, and processes, driving scale-up and commercialisation.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and optimise electrochemical components, improving efficiency and performance.
* Research electrolyser architectures, electrode materials, and operational variables for scale-up.
* Implement process control strategies for consistent operation and quality.
* Conduct experiments using electrochemical characterisation techniques to validate designs.
* Research cost-effective electrode materials to enhance cell performance.
* Collaborate on experimental studies and scale-up from lab to commercial scale.
* Prepare technical reports and communicate progress to stakeholders.
* Manage R&D pipelines, ensuring alignment with company goals.
* Support supplier management for electrochemical process components.
* Innovate through literature reviews and interviews to refine technology.
* Maintain rigorous safety standards and ensure proper handling of hazardous materials.
* Work with multidisciplinary teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
* Foster a culture of sustainable, inclusive innovation.
Requirements
* Degree in Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related fields.
* 3+ years of experience in water electrolyser design, development, and optimisation.
* Expertise in electrode chemistry, durability testing, and electrochemical characterisation.
* Advanced knowledge in electrocatalysis, HER/OER, and electrochemical technology.
* Proficiency in lab equipment and safe practices.
* Strong problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills.
* Team-oriented, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
