The Specialist Mental Health Team (SMHT) is looking to recruit an experienced Social Worker to become part of the team in the role of Ward Liaison for Psychiatric Hospital. This is to ensure that patient’s needs are met and appropriate placements and funding is sourced in a timely manner to prevent delayed discharges. The SMHT work closely with people suffering from severe and enduring mental health problems who have complex social care needs. The team is comprised of AMHPs/Social Workers who carry out the statutory requirements of the AMHP role under the Mental Health Act 1983 and support and advise Adult Social Care Locality Teams, interface with Health colleagues offering experience and knowledge to enhance client experience as well as support individual team members. A large part of the role will include ongoing risk assessment whilst considering safeguarding issues is a significant part of the role as well as a good knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Capacity Act and associated legislation. The successful candidate will be qualified in DIPSW or equivalent and should be enthusiastic as well as having excellent communication skills.
