At Scottish Water, we look after Scotland's most precious natural resource. From source to tap, we’re guarding Scotland’s reputation for refreshingly pure water and caring for our environment at the same time.
We’re looking for a Network Maintenance Operator to join our Water Response team working in Inverness and the surrounding areas, or Dornoch area.
What you’ll do
1. Your number-one priority is resolving customer issues. You’ll take control of any situation, investigate problems, and come up with solutions that make customers happy – always keeping them up to date.
2. You’ll carry out routine repairs and maintenance on water network infrastructure, as well as plant, equipment, and vehicle checks, while prioritizing health and safety.
3. Accurate reports are essential, so you’ll be across reporting systems for measuring performance and productivity. You’ll also do your turn on the standby rota for out-of-hours work.
What you’ll bring
1. Self-motivated and eager to contribute to your team’s goals.
2. Basic IT skills for using digital equipment and apps throughout the day.
3. Report writing skills to communicate clearly and accurately.
4. A full, clean driving licence is non-negotiable.
A few ‘nice to haves’ include experience with HGVs or 180/360 excavators, cable avoidance tools, and an understanding of health and safety principles for site working. Holding a CPCS or NSRWA qualification is beneficial but not required.
Looking out for you
This role has some weekend working and standby requirements. You will receive 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays) and can buy five more if needed. You can also take time off to volunteer in your community.
We offer family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave, as well as flexible working options.
For your future, there’s a pension plan and life assurance, plus an annual company bonus and access to SW Splash for savings on holidays, bills, and shopping.
The not-so-small print
This role will be a Grade 4 with a starting salary of £27,590, progressing to a maximum of £32,410 based on performance. In November 2024, we are moving to a 35-hour week to support the wellbeing of our employees.
If you’re interested in this role, we’ll be accepting applications until midnight on 8th November 2024.
Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional upon completion of pre-employment screening, including referencing and criminal record checks.
