Job Title: Field Technician (Contract Role - 3 Months with Permanent Placement)

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Field Technician to join our team in Abergavenny. This role involves the inspection, repair, and maintenance of water and wastewater assets while ensuring high-quality standards, safety compliance, and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will work on a rotational basis, including weekends and bank holidays, with occasional nationwide travel.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct routine inspection, repair, and maintenance of water and wastewater assets.
Deliver exceptional customer service while adhering to health and safety, financial, and statutory regulations.
Work closely with the scheduling team and management to maximize productivity.
Provide daily job feedback to support follow-up work and minimize failures.
Offer technical support to customers and colleagues when required.
Manage workload effectively to ensure efficiency and flexibility.
Undertake a variety of tasks including O&M activities, CFS testing, meter verification/installation, site maintenance, and cleaning duties.
Maintain water assets to food-grade standards.
Support local operational incidents and participate in an out-of-hours standby rota.
Carry out O&M work on a water treatment facility producing 5 mega litres per day.
Work shift patterns, including late shifts, weekends, and bank holidays.
Obtain and maintain MoD security clearance.
Travel to multiple sites as needed (travel expenses covered).
Experience & Skills: Essential:
Experience in operating and maintaining water and wastewater assets.
Background in minor civil works, including drainage, manholes, and water pumps.
Proficiency in plumbing installation and maintenance (if applicable).
Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations.
Ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
IT literacy, including the use of field IT systems.
Strong organizational and planning skills.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel.
Self-motivated and physically fit.
Qualifications: Essential:
Experience in O&M activities and working with water/sewage assets.
Ability to use safety equipment/tools.
Basic risk assessment knowledge.
360 Excavator Ticket experience.
Desirable:
NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Water/Sewage Treatment.
Farming background.
EUSR Hygiene Card.
Manual Handling Training.
Confined Space Training (Escape Set or Full BA).
Working at Heights Certification.
