We are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our Orthopaedic Therapy Team. Our team comprises of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Apprentices, and Therapy Assistants.
As a team, we cover the trauma and elective wards at Dorset County Hospital across a 7-day service.
We promote education and service development and use our connections with Bournemouth University, Health Science University College, and surrounding Trusts to ensure we are delivering the best care and service to our population.
Main duties of the job
The therapist works as an integral member of the Occupational Therapy team.
To undertake all aspects of clinical duties and to carry a significant caseload of patients as an autonomous practitioner, including those with complex presentations.
To work at an advanced level and be professionally and legally accountable for a specialised patient caseload, and decide priorities for own work area, without direct supervision.
In conjunction with the Team Lead, the post holder participates in a rolling programme of education, clinical evaluation, audit, and research across the specialty.
To promote and demonstrate safe, timely, and appropriate discharge planning.
To provide leadership and clinical guidance for junior staff, therapy assistants, students, and ward staff.
To take part in weekend working rotas.

Education, Qualifications and Training
Essential
1. Diploma or Degree Occupational Therapy
2. Registered as an Occupational Therapist with HCPC
3. Evidence of other relevant and recent CPD/training
Desirable
1. Undertaken appropriate managerial/leadership training
2. Member of Special Interest Group
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
1. Minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience
2. Inpatient experience
3. Experience of teaching and supporting junior staff
4. Evidence of engagement with regional networks/other partners (Community Trust, social services)
Desirable
1. Working across organisations e.g., Schools/hospitals
2. Experience of working with a variety of patient conditions
