Job Description
Checkout.com is seeking an experienced Employment Tax Manager to oversee and manage various employment tax compliance matters across our global operations. This role will be instrumental in ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, mitigating risks, and optimizing tax strategies related to employee compensation and mobility. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of employment tax regulations in multiple jurisdictions and a track record of implementing effective tax compliance frameworks.
How you’ll make an impact
1. Global Mobility and Secondments: Manage tax implications for employees on international assignments, including tax equalization, tax treaty analysis, and coordination with external tax advisors.
2. Short Term Business Visitor (STBV) tax assessment: Develop and implement processes to assess and manage tax obligations for employees engaged in cross-border business travel, preparation and submission of STBV appendix 4 and appendix 8 reporting.
3. PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA): Oversee the administration and compliance of PSA programs, ensuring accurate reporting and payment of tax liabilities on non-cash benefits.
4. Employment Tax Compliance: Stay abreast of changes in employment tax legislation and regulations globally, and ensure company policies and procedures remain compliant. Perform periodic review and reconciliation of PAYE, Federal and State taxes, social securities and other withholding liabilities are reported and paid to the relevant authorities in a timely manner.
5. Tax Planning and Optimization: Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external advisors to develop tax-efficient strategies for employee compensation and benefits.
6. Internal Controls and Risk Management: Establish robust internal controls to mitigate employment tax risks and ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
7. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with HR, Finance, Legal, and other departments to provide tax guidance and support on various initiatives and projects.
8. Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external tax advisors, vendors, and service providers to support employment tax compliance efforts effectively.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CTA) preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in employment tax compliance, preferably in a multinational corporation or professional services firm.
Deep understanding of employment tax laws and regulations in multiple jurisdictions, with experience in global mobility, expatriate taxation, and cross-border employment tax issues.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex tax regulations and apply them to practical business situations.
Proven track record of managing projects and driving process improvements in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
