Description Overview We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our team in Group Transport. Reporting to the Commercial Finance Manager, you will provide project support across Group Transport and will be instrumental in providing financial insights and support within our 3PL and 4PL contracts. This role will involve assisting with new business bids, onboarding of contracts, assisting with month end closing processes, preparing financial reports, conducting variance analysis, and ensuring financial controls are in place The role can be based in Nottingham or Chippenham where you will be on either site 3 days a week and homebased for 2 days. Salary - £32k to £38k. DOE. How will you contribute? Prepare financial reports and dashboards to provide insights into project performance and profitability. Conduct regular analysis of metrics, costs and revenues associated with 3PL and 4PL services. Assist in the development and implementation of financial controls and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy. Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly management accounts for new customer projects. Support the month-end closing process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis. Collaborate with other teams to develop and monitor project budgets and milestones, ensuring alignment with commercial financial and operational objectives. Collaborate with other finance team members to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. Provide support for forecasting and budgeting activities related to new customer initiatives. Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations as required. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in management accounting and logistics. What will you bring? Experience within a similar finance based role. A part qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA). Transport/Logistics or Heavy Industry experience would be advantageous but not essential. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Excellent organisational and time-management skills Demonstrate drive, energy, and a commitment to creating best practice. Be proactive, inquisitive with a passion for challenging teams to drive performance. Must be flexible and respond positively and accurately to internal and external customer requests. Excellent customer relationship skills with the ability to develop good working relationships at all levels. Have excellent PC skills and be able to understand and harness IT and systems to benefit the operation. Able to travel across sites as required. What do we offer?
