Vacancy for Systems Administrator at the University of Oxford
Date: 31 March 2021
Location: Oxford
Contract Type: Fixed Term
We are seeking a Systems Administrator to join our established systems team in the Bodleian Digital Library Systems and Services Department. This is an exciting time for the libraries and the role offers you the opportunity to play a key part in the delivery of new and enhanced digital services supporting library staff, readers, academics, and the wider public.
You will join a team of three responsible for the design, implementation, and administration of the libraries’ IT infrastructure. The main operating systems are Red Hat and Ubuntu run in a VMware virtualised environment with service provision increasingly delivered through a hybrid of in-house/cloud infrastructure. The role offers an opportunity to work with storage on a multi-petabyte scale as we look to grow our digital preservation capabilities.
You will be an experienced systems administrator familiar with operating Linux servers in a virtualised environment. You will be happy supporting projects, both business and research-led, as well as undertaking day-to-day administration tasks including server installation and configuration, security patching, performance monitoring, backups, etc.
This is a full-time role on a 3-year fixed term contract.
You will be required to upload a CV and a supporting statement as part of your online application. Your supporting statement should list each of the essential and desirable selection criteria, as listed in the further particulars, and explain how you meet each one. CVs alone will not form part of the selection process.
Only applications received online before 12:00 midday (GMT/BST) on Wednesday 31 March 2021 can be considered. Interviews are expected to take place on Friday 16 April 2021.
