Duties and Key Responsibilities
1. This role includes working across the whole of Hertfordshire; our head office is in Cheshunt.
2. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We require you to understand and demonstrate this commitment.
3. Prevent family breakdown by delivering support to parents of children of all ages through visits to the family; either at their home or at other suitable venues, by telephone or via email/social media.
4. Ensure all parents are free from Child to Parent Abuse.
5. Ensure all young persons supported are given opportunities to develop their life skills and positive social behaviours.
6. Ensure every young person supported is safeguarded from harm.
7. Promote inclusion across the cultural spectrum and in line with the disability discrimination act, encouraging social engagement in the local community and working to reduce isolation for all members of the family.
8. Ability to listen to the parents and child’s voices equally, and work to ensure all members of the family have a voice in the work.
9. The role also involves liaising with different agencies and attending professional meetings, writing reports for referrers or other partner agencies, and occasionally for court.
10. Attend key meetings to support families in crisis.
11. Contribute to project development opportunities for the company.
12. Maintain a caseload of families and accurate records.
13. Support the company with any other duties as identified by the CEO.
Skills/Qualifications/Experience
1. Qualified to Health and Social Care Level 3 or equivalent.
2. A minimum of 1 year experience in family support or social work is required.
3. Experience of working with SEN/D families would be an advantage.
4. Demonstrate an understanding of the safe working practices that apply to this role.
5. Ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and well-being of children and young people.
6. Experience of working with young people, their parents and/or carers, and the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively.
7. Ability to respond in a calm and professional manner in stressful or hostile situations.
8. Good listening skills with empathy and patience and a non-judgmental approach to working with a diverse group of individuals.
9. Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
10. An understanding of current challenges and opportunities for families experiencing violence from their children.
11. An understanding of and commitment to equality and diversity.
12. Ability to prepare reports to a professional standard.
13. Experience of initiating and working in partnership with various stakeholders - statutory and voluntary organisations.
14. Flexibility in hours worked to meet the requirements of the work including unsocial hours or weekends.
15. Early morning, weekend, and evening work is regularly required for this role.
16. Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
17. A clear DBS is essential.
18. A clean driving license is essential.
19. You must have your own vehicle for this role and be prepared to use this vehicle for business purposes; mileage will be paid for business use.
Pay: £15.00 per hour
