Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time Medical Secretary to join the Radiology team at the Churchill Hospital. The post will be based on-site within a fast-paced patient-centered department, providing a 7-day per week service.
The role is part of an experienced admin and clerical team, with good peer group support and works closely with a wide range of clinical staff. The individual will need to be enthusiastic and work flexibly to ensure admin support is provided for the consultant radiologists and multidisciplinary teams. Applicants should have the ability to remain calm and think logically under pressure, possess a positive attitude, and maintain high standards of work.
Main duties of the job
* Provide comprehensive secretarial support for the consultant radiologists, including diary management, leave, and administration duties.
* Ensure consultant leave is communicated to relevant teams and clinical sessions closed.
* Process on-call payments.
* Liaise with and support wider Radiology medical secretaries across all OUH sites.
* Oversee and action the urgent and departmental email accounts for GP and in-house queries/communication.
* Action urgent findings to the referrer and MDTs while maintaining discretion and confidentiality.
* Designated point of contact for onsite doctors and team queries, escalating when required.
* Action private patient requests from appointment to report allocation, including relevant paperwork for payment.
* Process medicolegal requests for copy imaging.
* Process patient requests for copies of health care records and imaging.
* Send/request images via IEP.
* Act as a departmental Superuser for the hospital EPR and Radiology CRIS patient systems.
* Answer telephone calls from patients, clinical teams, and external health care providers, demonstrating professionalism and efficiency.
* Understand and follow all admin workflows and processes to ensure excellent service is provided to both patients and colleagues.
* Understand and follow different patient pathways to assist with appointment bookings as required.
* Any other duties as requested by Admin Manager such as reception cover, support for appointments, and secretarial teams within Radiology.
Person specification
* Good general level of education
* Good IT knowledge & application
* Secretarial/admin & clerical experience
* Experience of working in the NHS or with the public
* Experience of working with computerized patient/customer systems
