For this role you must be fully flexible Monday to Sunday. You will be allocated shifts on a rotational basis. You must be able to work a combination of 8am -8pm, 8am -2pm and 2pm -8pm.
You will not be able to provide us with your availability and we cannot allocate you preferred shifts. Please consider this carefully before applying.
The Home
Ardmaine Care Home is warm and loving, located near the centre of the city of Newry. It has two units - General Nursing and Dementia Nursing. Ardmaine Care Home provides care for older people as well as those with Dementia, Alzheimers, Parkinsons, Cancer, End of Life Care, Respite, Stroke, Epilepsy, Visual Impairment and Challenging Behaviours.
The Role
The Senior Care Assistant role in our Nursing Homes is part of a dedicated team who are essential to the daily operations of the Home. Senior Care Assistants provide high quality care and support to our residents in a warm and safe environment. Senior Care Assistants play a crucial role in the delivery of care, working with the Registered Nurses and Care Assistants. The role of a Senior Care Assistant is to provide leadership, guidance and hands-on assistance to ensure the residents receive personalised care that meets their individual needs and preferences.
Our Senior Care Assistants also provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering meaningful relationships and promoting a sense of compassion; an advocacy for the rights and preferences of our residents.
Main Responsibilities
1. Providing practical support and responsive care to residents who require assistance with intimate personal needs such as dressing, bathing and toileting activities ensuring that such activities comply with procedures and the relevant healthcare legislation.
2. Observes and monitors the wellbeing of residents ensuring that any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences are promptly referred to senior staff/the primary nurse and documented as appropriate.
3. Monitors and allocates the work for care assistants.
4. Develops and maintains a good professional relationship with residents, colleagues and visitors responding promptly and courteously to requests and enquiries.
5. Responsible for the administration of medicines.
