Working under the direction of the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children and the Safeguarding Children Specialist Nurse to provide expert advice, support and training to all health staff and to develop effective inter-agency working practices across agencies to safeguard children.
This role is open for applications from both Nursing (NMC) and Allied Health Professionals (HCPC) registered applicants.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Offer specialist safeguarding children advice and support to staff across IOW NHS Trust.
2. Deliver Level 1-3 training to Trust staff as part of the Mandatory training program in line with the Trust Safeguarding Children Training Policy.
3. Undertake Paediatric Liaison duties to ensure robust information sharing between Secondary and Universal health care services.
4. Ensure the timely return of HantsDirect Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) enquiries in line with MASH timescales.
5. Provide child protection supervision to health professionals involved in child protection.
6. Liaise with frontline practitioners to integrate safeguarding children practices into staff roles.
7. Present safeguarding children information in various formats including verbal, written, and via PowerPoint presentation.
8. Support practitioners at Child Protection Conferences / Core Groups and during Court appearances.
9. Challenge Trust staff & practitioners if LSCP policy and procedure is not followed.
10. Advise staff on reports for child protection conferences and statements for care proceedings.
