We are looking for an enthusiastic, resourceful Chief Pharmacy Technician who enjoys working in a busy MDT environment, is a great team player, and demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills to join our dynamic team as we enhance our Aseptic Unit, currently undergoing a refurbishment to further elevate our commitment to excellence in quality and safety.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will join a dynamic Pharmacy Production team with the opportunity to manage and develop the service. Main duties of the role include (please see job description for the complete list):
1. To assist the Lead Cancer Services Pharmacist in the management and development of production services both sterile and non-sterile.
2. To be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of all technical staff in the Production Unit and ensure services are delivered in a safe, effective, economic, and timely manner.
3. To be responsible for ensuring that all documentation and procedures comply with current legislation and guidelines.
4. Management of the technical aspects of aseptic dispensing to ensure that all products are made to the highest quality enforced by GMP and QA systems and to ensure the Production Unit is maintained in good working order and that all directives are met.

Job responsibilities
1. To develop, maintain and ensure compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS) in collaboration with the Accountable Pharmacist.
2. To write, develop, maintain, and assure implementation of policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain the controlled documentation system in cooperation with the Accountable Pharmacist.
3. To ensure that all activities, documentation, and procedures within the unit meet current legislation such as GMP, GCP, Health and Safety, and COSHH.
4. To assist in all aspects of internal and external audit of the aseptic service, including audits of current practice, and development of service improvement strategies.
5. To be responsible for the local delivery of the pharmacy education and training strategy for production staff.
Person Specification
Education / Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent qualification
* Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
* Current GCP training
* Attendance at relevant study days/courses related to sterile production
Skills & Abilities
* Knowledge of principles of Good Manufacturing Practice and its application in an unlicensed aseptic unit to a high level
* Evidence of effective interpersonal skills with particular ability to liaise with multidisciplinary team members
* Ability to demonstrate self-motivation
* Ability to make decisions, organise and prioritise
* Evidence of commitment to customer care initiatives
* Computer Literacy (e.g., Microsoft Word and Outlook) and use of pharmacy computer system (JAC)
* Ability to deal with conflict/difficult situations
* Be able to analyse and review complex data
Knowledge & Experience
* Significant experience post qualification in a hospital including within an aseptic service
* Knowledge of GMP, QA, GCP, COSHH, and Health and Safety at work
* Experience of managing staff and leading a team
* Experience of supervising and delivering aseptic chemotherapy services
* Experience of delivering education and training
* Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Experience in writing SOPs, policies, and procedures
* Experience of investigating incidents and managing risk
* Aware of current legislation and professional ethics and practice, including the provision of section 10 aseptic services
* Experience of change management
* Experience of developing a service
