Overview:
Shift responsibility for the effective and efficient operation of a highly automated 24/7 milk processing site. Taking ownership and accountability on shift for the individual departments’ performance against agreed targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) ensuring continuous improvement across all key operational metrics. Achieved through highly trained people and efficient processes with effective engagement and development of shift operators in a lean manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to:
• Ensuring the manufacture of products to the highest standards in the safest, most cost effective and efficient manner.
• Fully utilising and harnessing the Production and Maintenance Teams capability through effective leadership, processes that are consistently applied and accurately measured against the business objectives.
• Day to day management of production operatives on the shift rotation
• Identifying and implementing process improvements in conjunction with key stakeholders
• Ensuring strict adherence to all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
• Ensuring consistent adherence to company policies and standard operating procedures.
• Maintaining and driving quality standards in process, people, and product.
• Capacity planning for existing and future products
• Identifying and implementing Lean initiatives
• Contributing to the culture of continuous improvement
• Reporting and communicating effectively with the senior management team on an ongoing basis.
• Assisting with the development of Standard Operating Procedures.
Qualifications/Experience and Competencies Required:
• Experience in a production role in a Food processing environment a distinct advantage
• Food/ Science or Process/Engineering/Production Management qualification or equivalent a distinct advantage.
Key Skills/Attributes Required:
Experience in a production role in a food processing environment including previous experience as a team leader/shift manager or equivalent with proven leadership skills.
Possesses excellent analytical and problem solving skills, thriving in a fast paced environment.
Appetite to drive safety improvements through team engagement and company HSE initiatives.
The ability to continually improve the quality and effectiveness of all activities.
IT and report writing skills
High standards of systems compliance.
Personal Attributes/Core Behaviours
Strong ability to work in a team, whilst being able to lead, work on own initiatives and delegate to other functions.
Clear communication to all levels including to Leadership team.
