Role: Lead / Senior Full Stack Software Engineer
Industry: Digital, SaaS, Compliance
Location: Manchester / Remote (office visits a few times a month
Salary: £65,000 - £110,000 DOE
Are you a talented Lead or Senior Full Stack Software Engineer with a strong command of AWS looking to advance your career? We're seeking a skilled engineer to join an innovative tech company that's making a global impact.
About the Company:
Our client is a fast-growing Manchester-based scale-up with a global reputation for helping Financial Services firms manage risk through cutting-edge archiving and supervision solutions. Their platform captures and monitors all digital communications—whether it’s emails, MS Teams conversations, or iMessages—to ensure businesses stay compliant with regulations, avoiding costly fines like the $3bn issued by the SEC in 2023.
Their mission is simple: to allow firms to communicate freely and confidently, with the knowledge that all communications are monitored and flagged in real-time for non-compliance. Having recently secured significant investment from a US growth equity firm, they are now poised for the next stage of rapid expansion, and they’re looking for top talent to help take them to the next level.
* Cloud Native: Our cloud infrastructure adapts to scale according to your requirements.
* Data Sovereignty: Choose any location for storing your data to comply with procurement and storage regulations.
* Fidelity: Record dynamic web content, including complex applications made with modern frameworks, which others cannot.
* SaaS Platform: Utilise an intuitive platform to access all archives, complete with full-text search, analysis, and reporting features.
* Search & Download: Easily search for and download archives straight from the platform.
What You'll Do: You will be a key part of a brand new team developing an industry leading product that forms a core part of the companies strategy. This role involves hands-on coding, leveraging AWS services, R&D of new technologies, solving complex problems and collaborating with various teams to deliver reliable and high-performing software.
Responsibilities:
* Lead by Example: Set the standard for technical excellence through hands-on coding, design, and problem-solving. Be at the forefront of technical challenges, showcasing best practices and driving the team forward by example.
* Full-Stack Development & Cloud: Take ownership across the full stack, including frontend work with React and Remix, backend services in Go, and cloud infrastructure in AWS. Ensure smooth integration of infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines into everyday development.
* Technical Design Contribution: Play a key role in the technical design process, bringing fresh ideas to the table and contributing thoughtful solutions. Be open to and critically evaluate others’ ideas, ensuring we build the right solutions collaboratively.
* Automation & Scripting: Devise creative, robust solutions to automate complex tasks on MacOS and Linux systems. Use scripting (bash, AppleScript) to streamline key workflows and tackle the challenging automation requirements core to the product.
* CI/CD & Infrastructure as Code: Build and maintain reliable CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions. Ensure code is automatically tested, built, and deployed with infrastructure automation principles for consistent, scalable deployments.
* Mentorship & Collaboration: Guide less experienced colleagues through peer programming, code reviews, and open discussions. Foster a collaborative environment where everyone can contribute and learn from each other.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with product, design, and other stakeholders to ensure the technical solutions align with business goals. Actively contribute technical expertise in discussions to ensure that solutions meet both user and technical requirements.
* Security & Best Practices: Ensure security best practices are followed across the codebase and infrastructure. Identify and address security risks early in the development process, ensuring the application and infrastructure are resilient.
What You Bring:
* Generalist Mindset: You see yourself as a versatile engineer, comfortable working across a wide range of technologies and excited by the opportunity to learn and apply new tools as needed.
* Problem-Solving Enthusiasm: You thrive on difficult technical challenges, embracing ambiguity and finding innovative solutions to complex problems. You enjoy solving problems where the answer isn't obvious or well-defined.
* Early-Stage Excitement: You are motivated by the chance to contribute at the very start of product development, helping shape the architecture, processes, and technology decisions for a brand-new platform.
* Adaptability & Flexibility: You’re not tied to a particular stack or framework. While proficiency with Go, AWS, and React is beneficial, you're eager to adapt and find the best tool for the job.
* Collaborative Nature: You enjoy working closely with others, whether it's bouncing ideas off your peers or collaborating with non-technical stakeholders. You value effective communication and teamwork.
* Ownership & Initiative: You take pride in your work and aren’t afraid to own projects from concept to completion. You proactively look for ways to improve processes and the product as a whole.
* Continuous Improvement: You’re always looking to enhance existing processes and systems, pushing for greater efficiency, scalability, and reliability wherever possible.
