Are you ready to elevate your career in a place where your expertise truly matters? Queen Victoria Hospital (QVH), an internationally renowned specialist hospital, invites you to join our dynamic team as a Band 7 Occupational Therapist in the burns, plastics, and head and neck cancer service.
The team is expanding, and following internal promotions, we are now looking for an Occupational Therapist who has transferable skills and leadership experience to co-lead our team with the Physiotherapy Clinical Lead. The team supports patients who have had a burn injury at all stages of their journey and ensures safe discharges as well as inpatient rehabilitation where needed for patients who have had plastic or head and neck cancer surgery. We recognize that these are specialist areas, and the multidisciplinary team members, as well as your direct team, will support you to learn new specialist skills. We have experience in supporting clinicians coming into our team who have come from clinical settings other than burns, plastics, and head and neck cancer backgrounds and recognize key skills that you can bring with you.
If you are successfully appointed to this role, you will be eligible for a two-stage New Starter Premium of £1500 in total. You will receive £500 on the 6-month anniversary of your start date and another £1000 on the one-year anniversary of your start date.
Bank staff and returners to the Trust within 12 months are not eligible for the New Starter Premium.
Main duties of the job
You will be a specialist Occupational Therapist who can deliver advanced clinical assessments and treatments to a caseload of adult and paediatric patients. Your role will also include creating and delivering bespoke training to less experienced therapists, students, support workers, and the wider MDT.
Alongside these advanced clinical skills, we are looking for an inspirational and compassionate leader who will join together in departmental initiatives with peers across our 7 other therapy teams based at QVH. Our vision is to help people achieve their potential, and as part of the senior leadership team in therapies, you will drive forward change to facilitate this.
As the joint clinical lead therapist, you will provide day-to-day management for team members, clinical and professional supervision for those you line manage including the therapists and rehabilitation assistants. You will also get the opportunity to engage in multiple professional activities including MDT steering groups, working groups, and attending networking opportunities across the South East.
