What's involved with this role: Role: : Senior Human Factors Specialist Job Ref: QAD 3209/0303 Pay Rate: Competitive Market Rate Hours per week: 37 hours per week Contract Length: Anticipated 12 months Location: Salisbury – hybrid working Hybrid working: 3 days on site and 2 days WFH The Human Factors Specialist will work with the Corporate Health, Safety and Environmental Protection Team and other colleagues across the organisation in helping to implement a Human Factors Strategy aligned with HSE’s Human Factors Delivery Guide. The role is aimed at managing Human Factors health, safety and environmental protection risks, particularly in relation to work undertaken on high hazard activities that have the potential to result in major accidents in areas of work with biological agents, very toxic chemicals, energetic materials, indoor and outdoor trials and maintenance of critical facilities. Key accountabilities: Development of Human Factors policy, procedures and guidance Human Factors risk assessments (Safety Critical Task Analysis) for activities that could result in major accidents. Research and policy initiatives which involve Human Factors Undertake Human Factors training and awareness raising activities, including the development, production, design and delivery of new Human Factors training courses and materials and providing support to trainee Human Factors specialist(s) Support investigation of incidents, dangerous occurrences and near miss investigations Key requirements: Chartered Member of Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors Experience in Safety Critical Task Analysis in high hazard facilities. Excellent communication and leadership skills Practical experience and understanding of managing risks in high hazard environments Desirable: Experience of working on a site regulated under Control of major accident hazard regulations (or equivalent e.g. MACR) Experience of working in other high hazard industrial or research industries Awareness of the impact of human factors with regard to environmental protection Please quote the Job Title & Vacancy Reference No. in your application, or we will be unable to match your CV to the role being applied for.
